The Greatest Lack of Light Show on Earth – 2024 Solar Eclipse
On April 8th, the moon’s shadow fell upon our planet, creating a total solar eclipse across North America that allowed millions to witness this rare and astonishing natural phenomenon. Due to our roller-coaster topography, lush forests, and bluff-top views of the river, Elsah turned out to be a prime location to experience this surrealistic solar-lunar light show. According to the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources, Southern Illinois is considered the eclipse crossroads of America because it was in the centerline for the path of totality in 2017 and 2024. Be sure to mark your calendars and save your glasses for the next one on August 23, 2044. See you then. I’ll bring the Moon Pies and Sun Chips!
